While FarmAid's annual concert festival – sold out for 2023 – is well-known for its celebration of family farms, there's much more to this organization than meets the eye.
Beyond the music, FarmAid is a thriving nonprofit that channels the proceeds from its yearly event to support grassroots organizations dedicated to safeguarding and championing family farmers, ranchers, and robust rural communities.
Since its establishment as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1986, FarmAid has generated over $64 million from concerts. These funds aren't just for show; they're the lifeblood of initiatives that promote family farms, sustainable food systems, and thriving rural areas.
We're proud to collaborate with partners like the Farmers Legal Action Group, Rural Coalition, and Rural Advancement Foundation International (RAFI), who regularly receive FarmAid's support. Together, we're building a brighter future for agriculture.
But FarmAid's impact goes even further. They run a Farmer Resource Network, providing a treasure trove of legal, financial, and informational resources. We at Flower Hill Institute (FHI) are excited to work with FarmAid to link our online toolkit as a valuable resource in their network.
FarmAid isn't just about concerts; it's a platform for grassroots organizations to connect and educate festival-goers. The HomeGrown Village is where the magic happens, where attendees can learn, engage, and network.
As part of our MOU partnership with FarmAid, our Regional MPPTA Technical Assistance Directors, Dave Carter and Chris Roper, will be hosting a booth at the HomeGrown Village. We'll be discussing the vital role of local and regional meat/poultry processing.
If you're attending FarmAid, we invite you to swing by, say hello, and join in the activities at our booth. Let's work together to ensure a sustainable and prosperous future for family farmers and rural communities! #FarmAid #SupportFarmers #RuralCommunities
